Here are some frequently asked questions about recycling in Kintyre. If you can’t find the answer to your question, please feel free to contact us.

Why do I have two bags?
One bag is for your dry materials such as paper and textiles. The other is for wet materials such as cans and bottles.

What can I put in my bags?
Paper, newspaper, office paper, magazines, cardboard, books, textiles, clothes, bags, shoes soft toys, food cans, drink cans, aerosol cans, plastic bottles of all kinds including shampoo bottles. Please don’t put in window envelopes, tissue paper, plastic bags. And please take all glass to the glass recycling banks near you.

When are my bags collected?
Your bags will be collected every two weeks on different days depending on where you live. Please see our recycling Collection Calenders for dates of your collection.

What should I do if my bags are not collected?
Please contact us on 01586 553858 and we will collect your bags as soon as possible.

How clean do my materials need to be?
Our sorting is done by hand so food waste and liquids such as sour milk can be unpleasant. They don’t have to be sparkling but a quick rinse will do and help our sorters.

What do I do with glass?
